Nauset Surf House has gone through a major renovation and expansion, adding a new, larger 5th bedroom along with 2 new bathrooms. The result is 3 En-Suites (3 private bedrooms with their own bathrooms) for 4 total bathrooms and 5 total bedrooms.
No Rental Home is Closer to the Ocean Beaches:
Nauset Surf House boasts the shortest and easiest walk to the ocean-facing beaches of Orleans/Chatham. A 60-yard path through magical scenery takes you to an uncrowded section of Nauset Beach, with only a few more steps to the lifeguard-protected area. Short and without hills, this is an easy walk for young, elderly, or disabled beachgoers. Nauset Surf House is the only rental house where you can easily walk back from the beach in minutes for lunch, bathroom breaks, or naps, returning to the beach just as quickly.
No other home in Orleans/Chatham can match the views or the private setting of Nauset Surf House:
Perched on the low beach dunes overlooking the open Atlantic, the Nauset Surf House has an unmatched 280-degree view of the ocean and seacoast with NO neighbors or roads to block it. Sitting at the end of a private road, the home is one of just two set into the Cape Cod National Seashore at Nauset Beach – a unique and truly enchanting beach setting.
Large One-of-a-Kind House:
Nauset Surf House is a one-of-a-kind historic post-and-beam beach house right on Nauset Beach. Built in 1957 as one of the first houses on Nauset Beach, it was restored to its original beauty in 2008, with exceptional details that bring it closer to a 5-star hotel than a typical summer rental. Past guests have found Nauset Surf House larger and roomier than they expected. Guests have also noted that the kitchen was one of the best-stocked of any house they had visited.
Unbeatable Outdoor Space:
NSH has over 4,000 square feet of outside living area. First, there is a spacious wrap-around deck off the great room with unobstructed views of the beach and dunes up and down Nauset Beach. Right off the deck is an expansive unobstructed patio area facing the beach, with truly amazing views, large enough for all guests to stretch out and relax with a beachside fire pit and resort-quality lounge chairs and umbrellas.
Behind the house is an equally expansive patio with a large (seating for 10) custom fire pit, an outside dining and grilling area, and a protected lounging area.
The new En-Suite first-floor bedroom has its own private patio area, as does the lowest-floor bedroom with 2 walkout sliders to a private ocean-facing patio. Enjoy amazing beach, dune, and ocean scenery right from each deck or patio.
Large Commercial Hot Tub and 2 Gas Fire Pits (Beachside and Protected):
On the deck is one of the largest available commercial hot tubs (500 gal.) made by the premier vendor (Hot Springs), where up to 9 can soak while taking in the mesmerizing views and ocean breezes. Rinse off in the 2 outdoor showers at the end of a super beach day.
Enjoy the large, custom protected rock gas fire pit in the protected back patio area as you watch the evening stars with family and friends, or use the gas fire pit directly on the ocean side of the beach patio. Both are super easy to operate.
Unobstructed View from Nearly Every Room:
The house is ideally situated, with large windows and breathtaking unobstructed views from almost every room. The main living area is walled with glass sliders to maximize views and sea breezes, and is cooled/heated with a 3-ton commercial aircon system just for that open area. The newly renovated kitchen and dining table areas are open to the living room.
All 5 Bedrooms Have Unobstructed Ocean Views:
There are 5 large bedrooms – 3 are En-Suites with private bathroom facilities. (NSH is the only rental in Orleans/Chatham with 3.) The house has sleeping facilities for up to 10, all air-conditioned and heated with individual-room temperature controls.
En-Suite #1: On the top floor are 2 primary/master suites. Beachside is a spacious private suite with a king-size bed, its own bathroom, and very large windows with unobstructed 180-degree wrap-around views.
En-Suite #2: Right next door is a second primary/master suite with a king bed, its own private bathroom, a wall of windows looking down Nauset Beach, and its own private entrance and staircase off the courtyard. Great for members of your group who want to come in late without waking up the house.
En-Suite #3: On the main floor of the house there are 2 bedrooms. One is a third primary/master suite with beach views out 2 large sliders that lead to the suite's own private courtyard area. This suite also has its own private bathroom, designed to be more accessible for older guests.
Bedroom #4: Also on the main floor, there is a spectacular bedroom with 180-degree wrap-around views through very large windows and a slider to the great room's wrap around deck. The room has a king-size bed and shares a large bathroom with bedroom #5.
Bedroom #5: On the lower level is a beautiful, refurbished wood paneled room accessible via its own staircase, with full-wall double sliders to a private walk-out patio with full views of the beach and dunes. The bedroom has a queen-size bed and shares a bathroom with Bedroom #4.
The owner provides 800 thread-count bed sheets and Egyptian-cotton towels for both bathing and the beach.
Breathtaking Sunrises and Moonrises:
There's no need to drive to the beach to see magnificent sunrises – look out any of our large windows, or enjoy your morning coffee on the deck or patio. It's said that Nauset Surf House is the closest house to France in North America, so the unobstructed sunrises and moonrises are spectacular each and every day. Everyone in the house will witness the sun as it slowly peeks over the ocean.

This property has a 7-night minimum for June/July/August/September/October. Dogs are permitted only if they are registered at the time of reservation for a fee of $300 per dog. (No Cats.) As is customary in vacation rentals, there are additional fees to the rates listed. Those fees include a reservation fee and a non-refundable Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) fee totaling $195. In addition, state and local taxes totaling 14.45% apply to all reservations less than 31 days in length.
