Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: We had a great visit! When we booked this property, it was listed as "Humble Home" with host Ludyme, but it's now "Big Island Getaway" with new host Chris and some updating. Chris lives on the property, just as Ludyme used to. He gave us lots of helpful suggestions for local restaurants and activities. Our bedroom was comfortable and we had a bathroom with good tub-shower to ourselves. Ample kitchen equipment and we got dedicated fridge, freezer, and cabinet space. Didn't use the washer-drier option. We were introduced to friendly dog Roxy, but she was shy (& silent) and stayed close to Chris. This place was the best value we found on the east side of the island for our 5-night stay. Suburban neighborhood, lovely green tropically planted yard. We never went southeast from here, but we used it as a base for Mauna Kea, Hilo, and Hawaii Volcanoes NP.

Negative: Coqui frog chirping was audible outside at night, but we soon got used to the sound and didn't mind - MUCH preferable to the sudden loud erratic intermittent rooster calls we endured elsewhere (and not just at dawn) on the islands.
